About El Barrio
El Barrio is a place to find a room in a shared house in Australia, in Spanish and among people from the Latin American community. No agencies, no fees, and direct contact with whoever lists the room.
Why it exists
Arriving in Australia and finding somewhere to live is one of the hardest parts of the first month. Facebook and WhatsApp groups work, but posts get buried, you can't filter them, and scams are easy to fall for.
El Barrio brings those listings together in one place, with photos, weekly rent, which bills are included, dates and a map, so you can compare calmly and message the person who listed the room.
How it works
- Seekers filter by city, dates and budget, save the rooms they like and send an inquiry.
- Hosts list their house and rooms for free and answer inquiries from their dashboard.
- When both sides want to, they move the conversation to WhatsApp. The agreement, the inspection and payment are arranged directly between you.
El Barrio isn't a real estate agency and takes no cut of the rent. We don't take money from seekers or hosts.
